    This dream of green is like a vision from films depicting American suburbia. The paths are lined with rose bushes and the lawns are trimmed to perfection. The garden has clearly seen some time and money spent on it, but the feeling remains laid back. Perhaps one reason is the adjacent outdoor public swimming pool, which offers a cooling break amidst the busy gardening. The main gates of the area are open 7am-9pm in summer.     The Seurasaari island provides a nice setting for outdoor recreation, sun worshippers and walkers. The tame ducks, swans and geese swarming around the bridge welcome everybody. Having crossed the white wooden bridge a visitor can't help running into the happy little squirrels of the island. At the Open-Air Museum of Seurasaari the traditional Finnish way of life is displayed in the cottages, farmsteads and manors of the past four centuries that have been relocated from all around Finland.     The Lapinlahti Hospital was the first clinical area for psychiatric care in Finland. It is also one of the oldest mental health institutions in all of Europe. Today the spaces are used as workspaces and for cultural activities. Café Lähde, food waste restaurant Loop and Lapinlahti art gallery are all located at the old hospital building. At the side buildings in the parklike beautiful settings one can find a public sauna, a beach, a shop selling handicrafts and a fleamarket as well as the Mental Museum, telling about the history of psychiatric healthcare. There are also guided walking tours organized and events held in the hospital area.

    Rhododendron Park in Haaga is a true gem that deserves to be seen by all visitors to Helsinki when the plants are in bloom. The grounds serve as both a public park and a university research garden. The peak blooming season for both the rhododendrons and the azaleas is early June.
